DashGamer Easter Break: March 20, 2023 - April 3, 2024

Whaddaya buyin’? – This Week’s Releases

Welcome to a new weekly feature, aptly titled ‘Whaddaya buyin’?’ – our weekly gaming release table for those looking to get a quick look into the upcoming week of gaming titles. As known, our podcast Operation PlayStation has ‘The Drop’, named after the PlayStation Blog’s notorious release post that has been retired for quite sometime, however we’re looking to cover weekly releases across the board from all major publications, on all major platforms. We’ll also include our recommendations for those that aren’t too keen on what may be fresh on ballot, and update our picks as we go.

This Week: April 3 - April 9

April 4:

  • Meet Your Maker (PC, PS4, PS5, XBO, XSX/S)
  • Road 96: Mile 0 (PC, PS4, PS5, XSX/S, XBO, Switch)
  • Filthy Animals: Heist Simulator (PC)

April 5:

  • Moviehouse – The Film Studio Tycoon (PC)

April 6:

  • Curse of the Sea Rats (PC, PS4, PS5, XSX/S, XBO, Switch)
  • Everspace 2 (PC)
  • Ravenswatch [Early Access Title] (PC)
  • The Library Of Babel (PC)

Not a strong week for releases, if anything quite the dry spell. Meet Your Maker is a day one release for PlayStation Plus subscribers, so a nice little freebie in the bank while Everspace 2 is looking quite enticing.

A slew of releases last week, with few major players for pick-up. The Last of Us Part I on PC would have been a day one purchase – and could very well be for those that love the title – but I would hold off until Naughty Dog iron out quite a number of issues that are apparent in its port. Those that love their racers however, Forza Horizon 5 has the new Rally Adventure expansion out, which is for those that love their cross-field rallying through the valleys and muddy fields of Mexico.

The Backlog - Our Recommendations

Now Available:
  • Dead Space (PC, PS5, XSX)
  • Metroid Prime Remastered (Switch)
  • Octopath Traveller II (PC, PS5, Switch)
  • Resident Evil 4 Remake (PC, PS5, XSX)
  • WWE 2K23 (PC, PS5, XSX)

I unequivocally recommend Resident Evil 4 Remake. It’s in high contention for Game of the Year this early on, but has stiff competition in the Dead Space Remake, which is an incredible sci-fi horror action-adventure, that revisits the classic in a whole new light. I recently finished Octopath Traveller 2, an enjoyable JPRG with over 100 hours of retro-inspired  gameplay and design, and for those coming off that WrestleMania high, WWE 2K23 is now available.
