DASH Gamer Playlist #3 – Slipknot, Mudvayne, Something for Kate & More

The DASHGAMER.com playlist. Music that we jam to, while being productive with our daily tasks. This week we have Simon Blackburn of music talk show, Take My Tone to help us out with this week’s playlist. We hope you enjoy.

Despite having a strong connection to music, it has been over 15 years since I’ve created a playlist/mix CD, so this opportunity proved exciting and challenging.

I primarily paid attention to the transitions between songs and genre-switching; aiming to provide peaks and valleys like a film score.

How To Destroy Angels’ post-industrial opener is a dark and inquisitive tease of Mudvayne’s padded cell introspection that follows. Hypnotic bass rings sadness with Karnivool, only to take an obsessive turn from one of Slipknot’s bravest stylistic choices.

A peacefully melancholic Something For Kate breather precedes a powerfully emotive tapping passage from Gojira. The sensually cathartic Deftones classic slides in to then set up the wide soundscape of an Architects anthem.

O’Brother close the set with a brooding and delicate progression; giving the listener release and resolve. Enjoy.
